WHAT I DO

.I left school at 16 to pursue my passion and begin my career in the equine industry. Starting as a working pupil at a local riding school to obtain my BHS instructor qualifications. This was the start of an extremely enjoyable and rewarding career in coaching that has spanned more than 20 years.

During this time I qualified as both a human and equine Bowen Therapist, this combined with time training with internationally renowned biomechanics coach Mary Wanless kick started a keen interest for me in rider and equine biomechanics which continues to influence my coaching style.

Through my work as an equestrian coach, I began to notice what a huge impact a rider’s psychology had on their performance. This led me to enroll on an 8-week NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Foundation Diploma with UKCPD. This course was to have a huge impact on my coaching career as I began to realise the huge relevance of NLP for horse riders and what an invaluable tool it was for me as an equestrian coach.

A few years after I completed my foundation diploma and seeing how NLP helped me make such a positive impact on the riders I worked with, I became determined to qualify as an NLP Practitioner and went on to complete my training to become an NLP Practitioner with Inspire 360.

My interest in rider psychology continued and I was accepted to join the Centre 10 Applied Psychology for Equestrian Coaches programme to become a Centre 10 Advanced Coach. This course had such an impact on me I enrolled to study for a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. As my role as a rider mindset coach became more established, I decided to return to UKCPD to complete my NLP Master Practitioner qualification. I completed my BSc in psychology in  2023 with first class honors and am currently studying for a MSc in sports and exercise psychology at UWE.
